Stables Renovation
When we met Connie for this project, she had an odd request. She’d just bought a wonderful flat in a Grade 2 listed Stables Block in Kingston-Upon-Thames, and rather than asking the usual questions, “how can I get more room?”, she was more interested in removing one of the bedrooms and turning it into a wonderful 1-bed flat for herself and Poppy, her four-legged companion.
The property had been compartmentalised into multiple small rooms, and when renovated in the 80’s, the previous builders had almost completely covered up the beautiful oak beams that support the original room and dovecote. We came to her with some design ideas, but her vision was clear from the start and came with a list of fabrics, tiles, wallpaper and colour scheme already chosen.
This was to be her last big project, and so we had to get it right. She has no intention of moving again, and so the focus wasn’t just on the inside but on creating a beautiful front and back garden for her to enjoy. As an avid gardener, her input and planting skills combined with our bespoke patio and curved wall resulted in a beautiful English Garden in her rear courtyard, a perfect place to enjoy the sun.
We have been fortunate enough to work on 4 of the 6 units in the Stables and have an amazing project coming up soon next door, so look out for those pictures…
